Yogurt because I’m yogHURT

I look like a hamster at the moment because I had my wisdom teeth removed on Monday. This was mostly devastating because it made me enjoy eating a lot less, and honestly, I live to eat. I know that’s not news to anyone seeing as I run a food blog, but still. I want some crunchy toast right now.

Luckily, not all was lost, because I made some no added sugar blueberry yogurt the night before! I know it’s easy to find delicious, fruit flavored yogurt at the store, but most if not all of them are super sugary. Still under the influence of Fed Up, I decided to try and make my own version so I could guarantee that the sugar only comes from fruit and a little maple syrup.

I made mine with blueberries, but this recipe can be used with any fruit–I’d also recommend peaches or any other type of berry.

  1. Combine the fruit and sugar in a saucepan and heat. In a separate small bowl, combine cornstarch with water and lemon juice. Add starch mixture to saucepan and stir. Once the mixture begins to boil, simmer for about a minute so that it thickens.

Once you’ve finished, just stir the mixture into your favorite plain yogurt and enjoy! Because I needed my yogurt to be completely chunk free, I used the immersion blender (this is the one I use) before serving, so if you prefer a smoother yogurt I’d recommend that. Usually, however, I like the texture of having fruit pieces, so it’s definitely not necessary.

Let me know in the comments how it goes if you try it!
