Smoothie bowls are having a moment right now, but even before they were, I’ve drank a smoothie every morning with my breakfast. What’s not to love about them? I mean, they’re healthy yet they taste like dessert. That’s such a win in my eyes.
In Austin, there’s a juice shop called Juiceland that sells health smoothies. Every one that I’ve tried has been SOO GOOD, but there’s one in particular that I’m in love with. It’s not on the menu anymore, but they’ll still make it for you if you ask usually, and it’s called “the love below”.
Unfortunately, the downside to Juiceland is that it’s hella expensive, so I still have to put in the effort myself to get a good smoothie on the daily. Still, I’m lucky to have the chance to drink the occasional purchased smoothie for inspiration, and I’ve been able to come up with a my own delicious everyday smoothie based off of the love below.
This recipe is gonna revolutionize your smoothie life, guys. It’s so good and it tastes like a dessert (okay, it has chocolate, but it’s still healthy). You can drink it along with the rest of your breakfast like I normally do, or you can add less liquid and make it into a smoothie bowl. Since it’s less of a no-brainer and more aesthetically pleasing, I’ll be featuring the smoothie bowl version today, but know that it’s incredible both ways.
Fun fact: food photography is not always realistic. Do not attempt to make your smoothie by putting all of your ingredients into a blender at once like I did, just for the picture. I took it all back out afterwards–it was just to make this post insta-worthy. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
The recipe below doesn’t account for toppings, so make sure you leave a little extra so you can decorate and garnish your bowl.
