In an effort to compile the best places to eat in Austin when you’re not in the mood for making your own breakfast, I started my Breakfast Not By Lisa series, and this is my second post in it! This morning, I paid a visit to my Dad’s favorite restaurant in Austin (and one of mine, too!): The Omelettry.
Since my family went for Sunday brunch, there was a wait, but that’s to be expected, especially with such good food! They moved locations recently, and I’m personally loving the quirky vibe of the new building. Plus, there are lots of windows, which provides a nice natural light…except we were seated next to a broken window, meaning sub par lighting threatened the quality of my food photos. I edited the heck out of them to compensate, so hopefully they’re blog-worthy enough now.
I ordered the vegetarian omelet with a short stack of pancakes–one blueberry and one banana. I actually ended up getting two pancakes with both blueberries and bananas, but I was okay with it since the buttermilk pancakes were just SO GOOD. The highlight, of course, was the omelet. I guess that makes sense, seeing as the place is named for them, but still. It was flavorful but not overwhelming, and had just the right amount of cheese. If you live in Austin, I definitely recommend you try it!
We also had the Spanish omelet, which was also fantastic. I also enjoyed the presentation with the peppers and tomatoes on top.
My sister ordered the most attractive dish on the menu–french toast!
Honestly, I’d recommend everything on the menu, although I haven’t tried the non-breakfast dishes. You absolutely cannot go wrong with an omelet, for sure.
If you’ve ever been, let me know what you order in the comments! Also–comment any recommendations for future Breakfast Not By Lisa posts! Any restaurant in Austin that serves breakfast is game.
